How to plan a trip around public holidays
Choose the right country and year, check regional dates, then use leave suggestions and ICS carefully.
Start with the calendar for the place and year you will visit. A nationwide date is useful for planning, but it does not tell you whether a particular museum, shop or train will operate.
1. Check the destination and region
Open Poland 2027 or Czechia 2027 and confirm the selected year. Where a region filter is available, choose the place you will actually visit. The table tells you which dates are published and whether they apply nationwide or locally. For example, Poland lists Christmas Eve on Friday 24 December 2027; Czechia lists both the statehood anniversary and New Year's Day on Friday 1 January, which is still one calendar day. The national rules come from the Polish law and Czech law.
2. Use the leave suggestions as a starting point
The “Long weekends” section assumes a Monday–Friday schedule and weekends off. It shows the exact leave dates required by each suggestion. Check your employer's schedule and leave approval before reserving travel. A Polish day off allocated by an employer for a Saturday holiday is not a nationwide date in this calendar.
3. Export and confirm
After choosing the country, year and region, use “Download ICS” on that calendar page. The file contains the published dates for that selection; it is not a school-break calendar. Before booking, confirm opening hours, transport timetables, local events and your own entitlement directly with the relevant provider or employer.
