How our holiday calendars work
Where dates come from
Holiday occurrences may be imported from third party calendar feeds and then edited in our administration system. An import records what a source supplied; it is not proof that the date or its coverage has been independently checked. We publish only occurrences marked Published with a resolved nationwide or mapped regional scope.
Verification and completeness
A verification source and checked date appear only when an editor records an actual check. Saving or importing a record does not set either. Calendars are labelled partial until an editor verifies the country and year as complete. A partial calendar can omit holidays, so check critical plans against local authorities.
Regional holidays and substitute days
Without a region selected, planning suggestions use only nationwide dates. With a region selected, they also use dates mapped to that region or its parent region. An observed or substitute date is displayed separately from the holiday date; our suggestions use the observed date when one is explicitly recorded and do not invent substitutes. Public holiday status does not always grant every worker a day off. Contracts, sectors and local rules can differ.
Corrections
If a date, scope or explanation looks wrong, send us a correction with the country, year and a reliable source. We review reports before changing published data.
